Manhwa

Top 10 Manhwa Currently…

I’ve kind of fallen off reading manhwa lately. I’m not sure what it is, but I am very behind on many series. Right now, these are my current favorites. The top 5 are complete, so they are my favorites so far, while the remaining 5 are still ongoing, so they could definitely change, maybe even into the top 5.

  1. A Business Proposal: While this isn’t my first, it is one of the earliest manhwas I ever read. This story just holds a special place in my heart, I still love it. No, I haven’t seen the K-drama, but I would certainly recommend reading this for a sweet office romance.

2. Marry My Husband: This is another office romance, and sure, the story isn’t the best, but I really enjoyed it. I liked it was short, there was no extra drama, there were no obstacles to the main character’s revenge, the romance was very sweet, and the ending truly felt perfect. And now, it’s a K-drama as well.

3. Miss Not So Sidekick: Just like A Business Proposal, this manhwa was an early read for me. It is a very slow read, I will admit that, so rereading it is fairly challenging. Outside of that, I revisit chapters from this series many times, I love the romance between the two characters, it’s entirely my humor, and I just wish they would release an official copy.

4. Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story: Okay, upfront I’ll admit I’m not really talking about the manhwa here. The Manhwa is still ongoing, but the Light Novel is complete, and I read the entire thing, and it is a favorite! It was fantastic. Just like Marry My Husband, it focused on the story, with no added drama, and felt more like a mature read. I’ve read the manhwa as well, and I really enjoy it too.

5. Lethal Romance: This story is ridiculous, but I loved that it was basically a tribute to tropes found in many stories. It’s so silly, but so fun. This story is not going to be for everyone, even the ‘conflict’ and ending aren’t the best, but it’s hard not to appreciate it.

6. Solo Leveling: The only reason this one is not in the top 5 is because I have not finished it. I’ve maybe read 30% of this, and while I really do enjoy it, I just have not finished reading it. I love stories where a constantly overlooked weak character suddenly becomes the strongest, so this obviously would be a favorite for me. I’ll finish it eventually, especially since it’s complete, and I am watching the anime.

7. True Beauty: Same as Solo Leveling, this is not in my top 5 even though it’s complete as I have not finished it. It really isn’t my type of story, I read it on a whim, but I couldn’t put it down. I had to force myself to stop. I think it might go higher.

8. Dungeon/Clever Cleaning Life of the Returned Genius Hunter: If you haven’t figured it out, I love ridiculous stories. This manhwa really walked that line of having an unlikable main character, but his attitude, and his situation really just work so well! It’s fun, I was laughing so much, and it does feel different than similar stories.

9. Return of the Disaster Class Hero: Another crazy, ridiculous one. This has heroes who are actually terrible people, and a betrayed overpowered character seeking revenge. It’s perfect for me already, but then you add in the unserious nature of everything and it’s beyond perfect. Hopefully it stays that way.

10. Surviving As A Fish: Never have I been so stressed reading a story before. This manhwa is wild, I couldn’t put it down, but my goodness was it making my heart race. I also learned a good bit about aquatic life. Now I just need to finish it since it’s complete.

Manhwa Reviews

If you’re unaware, manhwa typically refers to South Korean graphic novels, comics, and webtoons. For the most part, these are full-color, unlike the majority of manga.

Below are very quick reviews with as much information on each manhwa that I can find. If I have a full review done, the link will be at the top of the information.

Links are available at the bottom if there is an option to either purchase the manhwa or read it legally online, but if there’s not, I am not linking to whatever site I read it on. I will not list any links as that risks the website. Usually what I do anyway is google the name of the series with read or manhwa after it, so [manhwa name] read.

Quick Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars. I liked the potential more than I liked the actual story. I have read 50+ chapters, haven’t finished it yet, but around here is when the story kind of stopped for the character’s flashback, and it was tough. The modern story of them actually reincarnated was much better, but just ok to me.

Summary: What will you do if a suit with a briefcase full of money presents himself in front of you? For Hanjun Park, a high schooler beaten down to the ground in an alley, the answer has been set in stone for a while: be true to his heart once more, unleash those simmering knuckles, and beat the shit out of anyone standing in his way to his revenge. Suit, make it rain. It’s time to wash away some bad blood.

Quick Review: 4.2 out of 5 stars. I do enjoy mindless stories where there is just a really strong character easily beating those who wronged them. This gives me that. Unfortunately, there is a female character that serves no purpose other than to be a hot character, and it just stops the story as she brings nothing. When she was first introduced, I was excited for her as she seemed really cool, but again, she does nothing. Would have been a great mindless fight story otherwise.

Thirsty for revenge, Reinhardt decides to give Will a new name and use him for her revenge. This time, Reinhardt has the joker, and she’s playing to win.

Quick Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you have an issue with age gaps, particularly underage characters that are “raised” by their love interest, this ain’t for you. The difference here for this one is that the ML, who is under age, leaves for a few years and returns completely different. Overall, the story isn’t the worst, but it also it’s the greatest. There are better ones out there.

Fortunately for Jiwon, she is given the chance to rewrite her fate when she is reincarnated as her younger self. This time, she vows to live a happy life. But first comes revenge. Her plan? To marry off her now former best friend to her lying, cheating husband.

Quick Review: 4.8 out of 5 stars. I love revenge stories, but only when it’s easy revenge where the main character is breezing through as their targets are not smart enough to see what they’re doing, and this gives me that. It’s short, everything works in the main characters favor, and there’s not added drama to lengthen the story. Also, the ending is so cute and perfect. Also, there’s a bonus chapter that involves the cat, and I cried.

Quick Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars. This manhwa will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of my earliest manhwa reads and it’s fully my humor. It does have it’s issues, it’s very slow paced, but I love it.

Quick Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars. If you just want to see a good-looking guy antagonizing those who betrayed him, just really messing with them as they’re supposed to be heroes but they’re actually terrible people, this is fantastic if you accept it for what it is. I love it, it’s hilarious, it’s just fun.

Summary: After being sealed away for 1,000 years, the War God Duan Yuxian has come back to a world that has forgotten him and his malevolent past. Although they try to live in peace as a family, the factions of the martial world refuse to let them be. Now, Duan Yuxian has no other choice but to remind them that the War God has truly returned.

Quick Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars. When I started this, I expected something completely different. I expected a serious adventure story, but it’s more of a silly doting father story with another legendary overpowered character. Like others, it’s great if you accept it for what it is.

  • Number of Chapters: 81+

    Complete: Yes

    Genre: Action, Fantasy, Romance

    Theme: Time Travel

Summary: As a stickler for rules and a knight with the highest regard for honor, Sigrid believed her loyalty would be unswerving and true... until she is killed by the liege she serves. With a second chance at life, Sigrid swears to change her old ways and avoid her wretched fate. Unfortunately, she soon discovers that shaking off her past may not be as easy as she had imagined...

Quick Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a great story. I love the main character, I love how she wants to change herself while still holding true to who she is. She’s a knight, and instead of going full ballgowns, she instead buys more feminine blouses and pants. When she did finally wear a dress, I reacted the same way as the characters, I was so excited for her. The biggest issue is with some of the supporting characters. The Male Lead is also amazing, I loved him.

Quick Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars. I haven’t finished this one, but I love it so far. It’s really interesting, the main characters hot which is always a plus, and so far the anime is doing a great job. I would like more from the story, but I am happy with how it is now.

Quick Review: 4.4 out of 5 stars. The most stressful story I have ever read. After seeing the title, I expected a much funnier story, but my goodness is this so dramatic. I was having such a hard time with it, but I couldn’t put it down!

Will the world’s worst villain ever win the heart of the strongest hero in the country?

Quick Review: 4.1 out of 5 stars. This one is fun. However, some of the later chapters brought up unnecessary things like drunken miscommunication. It did feel like it was bringing unneeded drama. I really liked it for the first 30+ chapters, so I hope it doesn’t continue with that as the story and characters were great. Side characters though, no so much…
